How to Add an IMAP Email Account to Microsoft Outlook Classic
Follow these steps to set up your email account in Microsoft Outlook using IMAP.
Step 1: Open Account Settings
- Open Microsoft Outlook Classic.
- Click on File in the top-left corner.
- Select Account Settings, then choose Manage Profiles.
- Click Email Accounts.
- Under the Email tab, click New.
Step 2: Enter Your Email Information
- Choose Manual setup or additional server types, then click Next.
- Select IMAP and click Next.
- Enter your details:
- Your Name: (Enter your name)
- Email Address: (Enter your full email, e.g.,
yourname@domain.com
) - Incoming Mail Server (IMAP):
mail.domain.com
- Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):
mail.domain.com
- Username: (Your full email address)
- Password: (Your email password)
Step 3: Configure Advanced Settings
- Click More Settings.
- Go to the Outgoing Server tab and check My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
- Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
- Go to the Advanced tab and enter the following:
- Incoming Server (IMAP):

(Use SSL/TLS) - Outgoing Server (SMTP):
465
(Use SSL/TLS) OR587
(Use STARTTLS)
- Incoming Server (IMAP):
- Click OK to save settings.
Step 4: Finish Setup
- Click Next to test the settings.
- If everything is correct, click Finish.
- Your email is now set up in Outlook!
Note: If you experience issues, double-check your email and password, and confirm with your provider that
mail.domain.com
is correct.
